Portrait Preservation
Caring for your portraits
1. Avoid extreme temperatures. Your portraits are going to be happiest at around 65-79 degrees.
2. Avoid extreme humid or dry areas such as attics, basements, kitchens and bathrooms.
3. Avoid direct sunlight.
4. Do not allow anything to touch your portraits - fingers or glass! When framing with glass, make sure to use mats to separate the glass from the portraits
5. Keep your portraits in one convenient area, so you can easily grab them and flee in the case of an emergency. Some things you can replace, but not usually your portraits.
If you treat your portraits and photographs as if they are babies, then you should have no problem. In fact, you can even wash your portraits, if they get dirty, a quick rinse of water, then blow dry (on low) the excess water off. This will usually save your portrait. Don't allow any cleaners or chemicals on your portraits and do not attempt to wash prints made at home or on inkjet printers.
